Your 10 Step Survival Guide for Fabulous Festival Hair

It’s festival time! Festival weekends are great for getting dressed up, listening to your favourite musicians and making memories with your friends. Having a great festival hairstyle is all part of the fun too!

Contrary to what those glamourous Instagram shots suggest though, your hair has a lot to endure during the festival season. Think dust, dirt, sweat and a serious lack of showers. (Ew!) So check out our 10-step festival hair survival guide. It's got all the festival hair essentials you need to keep your hair looking fabulous.

Before You Go

1. Pamper It Up

You’re about to go wild and may not see a shower for a while. (Eek!) So, make the most of washing your hair before you leave the comforts of your home. Try Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Wash Shampoo, and its ingredients will help to weatherproof your personal hair against the elements. Follow with Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Care Conditioner. This marvel will respond to your hair type, nourishing roots and lengths while repairing ends. This fab duo will help you keep that goodness locked in for the weekend without weighing your hair down.

2. Prep for a Frizz-Free Festival

After washing, apply a small amount of Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm to your towel-dried hair, and it will protect you from frizz and humidity for the entire festival weekend. (Our lab testing proves it). It really is a little miracle for all festival-goers. There will be no need for any festival-frizz breakdowns.

3. Pack Your Festival Hair Essentials

Create your kit of hair essentials. Think of the festival hair products you will really need to save you when you are wearing wellies and are deep in the camping zone. Choose four travel-size minis, and you can pack them all in a Percy & Reed travel pouch. Hot favourites include Big, Bold & Beautiful Dry Instant Volumising Spray and Quite Frankly Flawless Finish Polish which helps to gently style and smooth your festival hairstyles.

4. Plan Your Festival Hairstyle Ideas in Advance

Plan to impress with on-point festival looks, just like the A-listers! A 3-day festival plan can take you right through any festival feeling fabulous. Here are three looks to take you through three days effortlessly.

Day One

On day one go for a fishtail, it will help keep your hair away from your face, clean and ready for the next few days. Our founder Paul Percival says, “Low maintenance styles such as fishtail plaits are brilliant for festivals. Once they are done. they stay in place for a long time while looking great.”

  • Start by applying dry shampoo to a brush and then combing through hair. Then pull back hair into a low ponytail and split into two sections.
  • Take a small piece of hair from the outside edge of the left section, cross from the outer left side over the section of hair into the middle.
  • Do the same with the right side.
  • Continue these steps alternating from side to side and secure with a hair tie.

    Day Two

A half-up, half-down style is ideal for the second day at a festival. Just take out your braid, and your hair should have a natural wave. Then try this laid-back take on a half-up style.

    • Start by spraying Oh-So-Smooth Frizz Fixer onto a brush and comb through hair for instant frizz-busting magic.
    • Pull back the top part of your hair and tie into a ponytail, then twist into a loose bun and pin in place.
    • Spray the remaining hair with Beyond the Beach Texture Spray and tousle into soft waves. Voila! Ready for your second day of fun.

      Day Three

A simple topknot adds a relaxed summer vibe for any summer festival, and it’s so super simple. Adding accessories or glitter can add the wow factor to this simple style and hide the fact your hair hasn’t seen a shower in days.

      • Apply dry shampoo generously to help clean hair and give it texture too.
      • Scoop your hair into a high pony and secure with a band.
      • Twist into a high bun.
      • Finish with a spray of Reassuringly Firm Session Hold Hairspray to keep your look in place.
