Autumn is upon us, and it’s time to embrace it. It’s that time of year when the leaves fall from the trees, and you begin to stock up on cosy new jumpers. Will you welcome the new season with a new hairstyle too? Some of our favourite celebs have already started changing up their style this autumn. This post rounds up the key looks for you, with inspo to take you right through the season. Read on, and save hours searching Insta and Pinterest. (Promise.)
Here’s a peek at the celeb styles we’ve already spotted:
Glass Hair bob
All summer long celebs have been going for the chop. It started with Kim K and rippled through the celebosphere. Jessica Chastain, Mila Kunis, Margot Robbie and Jenna Dewan have all been seen sporting a bob. Even little Harper Beckham has debuted her new bob on VB’s Insta. This look is here to stay. Our co-founder Adam Reed says, “To me, hair looks best when it is glossy and fresh, and this is a style that really showcases that. It’s all about beautiful hair.” Ever wonder how the celebs get that mirror-like reflection on their style?
‘Glass Hair’ is the key trend this season. If you want a bob so glossy it shines like glass stars, you just need to use the right tools and hair styling products. Hair looks glossier when it is dyed darker too. For blonder hair, introducing a caramel tone will add shine. To add shine when styling, start by using a primer like Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm on damp hair to smooth the hair’s surface and eliminate frizz. Then, still on damp hair, warm some Smoothed, Sealed & Sensational No Oil Oil for Thick Hair between your palms and smooth it all the way through your hair from roots to ends. This will seal-in moisture and protection to keep your hair soft and shiny during heat styling. Blow dry hair straight, then use straightening irons for a gorgeously glossy, glass-like finish. Add a spritz of A Walk in the Rain Shine & Fragrance Mist and your bob will have mega-watt shine. You can keep it in your bag to touch up shine throughout the day. It’s a game-changer. (And smells divine too.)
Cara Delevingne has just been spotted with a delightful grown out pixie cut in the season’s favourite hue. A toasty brown shade that almost matches the leaves falling from the trees. If you keep the pixie cut a little longer at the top like Cara’s, there is a surprising amount you can do with it. You can wear it smooth and straight or create soft waves. Adam’s go-to product for styling a pixie is Quite Frankly Flawless Finishing Polish. He says, “Flawless is a big word, but this little beauty delivers. This styler contains horse chestnut extract which gives you a soft, flexible hold while sunflower wax gently moisturises. So you can go knock ‘em dead.”
A pixie cut is a brave new look to try, but as our co-founder Paul Percival says, “People often worry about going shorter, but pixie cuts can be really flattering, they frame the face, enhance bone structure and draw attention to your best features.” Always ask you hairdresser for a consultation to get their advice on whether this will work for your face shape. An oval or heart-shaped face works well with a pixie haircut. You’ll need to have your hair cut every 5-6 weeks to keep a pixie cut looking good. Are you feeling bold enough to go for the chop?
The lob is a celebrity-approved favourite that works for all face shapes. The new way of wearing it is effortlessly undone. It’s a slightly longer version of the bob where the length sits at your shoulders or just below, with choppy ends. Keeping layers at the bottom of the hair keeps it in great shape. Love Island favourite Laura Anderson is the latest celebrity to show off this gorgeous look for autumn. New X factor judge Ayda Field and Love Island host Caroline Flack have also been working it. It suits all face shapes and looks simply stunning. To style the choppy lob, get a great base in the hair by adding Abundantly Bouncy Volumising Mousse, ready for styling. You can also add body by using Beyond the Beach Texture Spray for effortlessly bouncy waves.
Alternative autumn hues
Autumn is an excellent time to experiment with colour too. The usual autumnal hues of vibrant copper, chestnut brown and strawberry blonde à la Emma Stone will start to appear now. And you’ll also see beautifully rich coffee and chocolate tones in the style of Selena Gomez. Balayage will also remain popular, both Keira Knightley and Mila Kunis have a deep dark brunette shade which has been slightly lightened at the ends. Lily James has a beautiful caramel blonde shade on her hair right now, which is also great for autumn. These won’t be the only colours celebs are wearing this season. We predict that we’ll see a deeper rose gold created with a shimmering fusion of colour. Are you ready to try something new?
