Hair colour trends for autumn/winter

Although we’ve waved the summer goodbye, there is still so much joy to have in the colder months. Think crisp morning walks, crunching the autumn leaves, toasting marshmallows on the bonfire and parties galore. (Not to mention the Starbucks Pumpkin Spiced Latte appearing back on their menu). A new hair shade for the new season can also be really uplifting. It’s an excellent time of year to experiment. There are lots of great looks filtering fast onto the streets this autumn/winter. So here’s a quick round-up of the hair colour trends and a handy guide to help keep your colour glowing once you’re set on a new hue.

Pick a colour

Whether you want a drastic change or a new season tweak, there is a huge array of on-trend colours and styles to choose from. Here’s our top tips for experimenting with colour this autumn/winter: Keep a few brighter highlights around your face to help illuminate your skin tone. Adding beautiful auburns and caramels to the rest of the hair can be really flattering. The balayage technique is here to stay, but stylists are changing this up by adding warmer tones through the hair. Shades like rose gold and peach sorbet bring something different and vibrant for autumn. The end result is still subtle as both highlights and lowlights blend throughout the finished style. Beautiful.

Caramel hair colour

Metallic colours are hugely popular on Insta, and the trend for shimmering style is set to continue. This doesn’t mean all out silver hair, this type of colour can just add a more subtle shimmer to copper, brunette and blonde. Rich coffee brown tones with just a touch of highlight or gloss are also a celeb favourite. The ever-popular autumn hue of copper also remains a winner.

Are you ready to get creative with hair colour? Which will you choose?

Make it last

Once you’ve chosen your new shade, the right haircare product will help your colour pop. Give your strands a little TLC to help maintain the colour. Washing your hair too often or with harsh shampoo will cause hair colour to fade so try and stick to every 2-3 days. (You can use dry shampoo in between washes.) Washing your hair with Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Wash Shampoo and Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Care Conditioner will help.

These little miracles are ultra mild and filled with goodness. A great shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair. They contain colour-preserving technology which helps prolong the life of colour treatments. They will nourish and rehydrate your hair, so it stays in tip-top condition. Or why not give co-cleansing a go? What’s co-cleansing you say?

Our founder Paul Percival says, “The reason why co-cleansers are beneficial is that they don’t use detergents or sulfates. A brilliant alternative for those who have a colour which they think fades too quickly.” Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Cleanse & Nourish is milder than a traditional shampoo and could be the way forward for those with dry, coarse or curly hair.
