Laid Back Plait

When asked Adam Reed what hair trend to look out for in 2017, he didn’t hesitate. 'The plait is back' he said. But this season, it’s all in the styling – it’s a casual, undone plait that looks slightly dishevelled and like it just happened. Adam created the Laid Back Plait above to show the style at its best.

How to Nail the Look:

‘After lots of really complex, tight plaits on previous runways, this season’s braids have zero severity. This version on Alma is slightly undone. It’s got a casualness about it – like someone did it during a boring assembly at school,’ explains Adam.

The look works well due to its deliberate imperfections, so it’ll work best by avoiding parting the hair in the middle as this will look too strict and counter the effect. Precision is not essential, so he encouraged ‘don’t worry about flyaways, the halo is part of the character’.

Hair does needs to look luxe and healthy for this ‘do though, so finish the style with a light spritz of our Eau my Goodness Shine & Fragrance Spray for a healthy, but natural looking shine. Fine haired girls could also try No Fuss Fabulousness Dry Shampoo or Big, Bold & Beautiful Dry Instant Volumising Spray for added texture and bounce before plaiting.
