London Fashion Week is a wrap. The celebrities were out in force gracing the front rows, the models hit the catwalks and there was a complete showcase of all the trends for SS19. The runways had all the glamour and excitement expected from London. VB celebrated a decade of fashion design with a show that was live-streamed on Facebook. Alexa Chung had her first runway show since starting her namesake label. Ricardo Tisci made his Burberry debut with unexpected elegance. The clothes on runways all across the city were fabulous and so, of course, was the hair. The runways and front rows were filled with a show-stopping mix of hairstyles that included 90’s grunge, textured vibes, sleek ponytails, romantic curls and all the colours of the rainbow. Here’s a roundup of the hair trends spotted on the catwalks and on the FROW. All the hair inspo you need for the next season. (Saved you from trotting around London in heels.)
Slick it back
The wet look was dotted all over the runways in the city. Love Island favourites Laura and Kaz both sported this look when they arrived at the Julien Macdonald show, and Naomie Harris was also spotted with slicked-back hair. Getting this super chic style is easy. Start by mixing Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm and Quite Frankly Flawless Finishing Polish in your palms. Rub them together and apply to towel dried hair. the hair back with a comb. You can use your comb to create a deep side parting for the finished look. Fix your style with Surprisingly Strong Extra Hold Hairspray and use Quite Frankly Flawless Finishing Polish to tame any flyaways. Super quick and sophisticated. Ooh la la.
Ponytails worn with pride
There was an explosion of ponytails all over the catwalks, from the multicoloured high pony at the Ashley Williams show, to the uber-chic low ponytails at Proenza Schouler. Little Mix favourites Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock both sported their own take on the ponytail. Want to give the perfect ponytail a try? Start by prepping the hair with Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm and then use the Smoothed, Sealed & Sensational No Oil Oil for your hair type before blow drying for long lasting shine. This should set you on the right track for silky smooth strands and a super swishy ponytail. Using a paddle brush, sweep hair back and use a hook band to secure your ponytail in place. If you’re going for a stylish look, a low ponytail secured at the nape of the neck is super chic. For a fashion-forward look, try sweeping hair to the top of your head into a high ponytail. There are all sorts of ways to wear one. Add an accessory or two or try a side ponytail. Have fun experimenting.
Waves and curls
Alexa Chung’s wavy hair had a 90’s vibe, almost as though the hair had been left to dry naturally. Romantic curls were spotted both on the catwalk and on Love Island’s Megan Barton in the front row. Ellie Bamber (currently dating Bodyguard favourite Richard Madden) and Millie Mackintosh had fabulously laid-back waves. The ultimate relaxed wave can be created by priming the hair with Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Treatment Oil+, then applying award-winning Beyond the Beach Texture Spray to damp hair. Use a tong to create waves and movement. Voila, an effortlessly undone look. You’ll soon be mistaken for an A-lister.
Accessories are here to stay for autumn and right through into spring. The runways were an eclectic mix of accessories including glitter bows, crystal slogan barrettes and headscarves. Read more about how you can style your accessories.
Sleek, straight hair
A look we are obsessing over from the runways is sleek, straight hair. The models just had really healthy looking simple hair, naturally polished to perfection. Think Nicole Roberts and Julia Restoin Roitfeld. For a straight, polished look prep hair with Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Treatment Oil+. Its trio of oils will transform even the driest of hair into the sort of locks Rapunzel would be proud of. Follow with The Perfect Blow Dry Makeover Spray and then blow dry the hair. When hair is dry, section and run over each section with a straightening iron. Finish with Reassuringly Firm Session Hold Hairspray to keep the look in place. Just lovely.
The fashionistas and celebs looked terrific all week in London. There were plenty of beautiful bobs and lobs spotted on the FROW’s too. Daisy Lowe looked amazing with a cut reminiscent of Josephine Baker. Many of the styles are quite easy to recreate at home with the right hair styling products. Is it time for you to experiment with a new look?
