Frizzy Hair Q&A with Paul Percival

GOLDEN HAIR RULE TO COMBAT FRIZZ: Our co-founder Paul “Percy” Percival says the golden rule to combatting frizz is that when drying hair you should always have the hot air blowing down the hair shaft from root to tip to seal the cuticle for perfectly smoothed, frizz-free, shiny hair (with our Tame That Mane Smoothing Styling Cream for an extra helping hand!)

CAN FRIZZY HAIR BE REPAIRED?

Yes, it can be improved. Hydration is everything. Ensuring that your hair is hydrated means that it makes it more manageable to style. The key is to lock that moisture into the hair shaft. Ingredients like macadamia nut oil, silk amino acids and keratin which is featured in Bye Bye Dry Hydrating Shampoo will help to moisturise, add shine and strengthen hair.

WHAT SHAMPOO IS BEST FOR FRIZZY HAIR?

Bye Bye Dry Hydrating Shampoo is our new and improved hydrating formula which helps to fight frizz. It improves the condition of damaged hair by targeting moisture deep into the hair shaft, not just coating the surface of the hair and reduces the formation of split ends.

CAN YOU STRAIGHTEN FRIZZY HAIR WITHOUT HEAT?

Whilst there are tricks that exist to straighten your hair without heat it will be a bit of a challenge if your hair is very frizzy. A couple of combinations for you to try can involve a blow-dry with cold air, then wrapping your hair and leaving it overnight or using plastic rollers. Or, you can use Percy & Reed’s Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm hair primer (our lightweight miracle worker!) to prep the hair to tame it the way you desire. We recommend using a hair primer regardless of whether you use heat or not, but if you use without heat, make sure to apply this to your hair before it’s dry. It’s also been laboratory tested to prove 72hr of humidity protection so it will keep the frizz away for 3 whole days!

CAN YOU CONTROL FRIZZY HAIR?

In addition to using the three products in our Frizz Fighting trio, you should also use a hydrating shampoo and conditioner, such as our Bye Bye Dry Hydrating range, as the foundation to managing frizzy hair. You can’t hurry the hair and expect great results if you skip the inclusion of a hydrating product in this step of your haircare routine – after all, Great Hair Starts in the Shower™ is our mantra!

HOW TO STYLE FRIZZY HAIR? (ANTI-FRIZZ HAIRSTYLES)*

It’s best to keep it simple and work with what you’ve got when styling frizzy hair. Styles I would recommend either accentuate the frizz, such as naturally messy ‘just-got-out-of-bed’ looks, or styles that control hair such as braids.
